How To Remove Front License Plate Bracket 2014 Silverado

My state requires front plates and around the metro area, this requirement is enforced. I asked a patrolman (off-duty) at a local autox and he said the enforcement was driven by the use of automated tolling, red light cameras and photo radar in use around the city. Seems reasonable. I intend to display a front plate legally as required. Also, in my home state, a front plate must be at least 12 inches off the ground. This requirement can be onerous for low sports cars, but the SS has a big, blunt front end so that part is easy. I don't like Chevy's solution which requires 6 holes in the front of the car to mount the bracket.

Chevy supplied front plate bracket - Durable, well made, but ugly and requires 6 holes drilled in front bumper. Safest for a minor collision? Skene designs 'No drill' license plate bracket - looks well made, places the plate in a legal location, requires 2 holes to be drilled underneath bumper despite product. How do i attach the front license plate. Report; Follow. Asked by RancherDan Oct 10, 2007 at 06:18 PM about the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. The dealership should be happy to assist you without charging for advice on where it's safe to put the front license plate mount. 1 of 1 people found this helpful.

I understand the argument that the plate holder will likely never be removed, but I still don't like the 6 holes, or the look of the bracket itself. Existing solutions and my opinion of them: • Chevy supplied front plate bracket - Durable, well made, but ugly and requires 6 holes drilled in front bumper.

Safest for a minor collision? • skene designs 'No drill' license plate bracket - looks well made, places the plate in a legal location, requires 2 holes to be drilled underneath bumper despite product name, seems a bit flimsy to me, recommended install has plate angled downward slightly, which look awkward to me • Show n go retractable license plate holder - mounts underneath car reducing ground clearance, illegal in my state due to height of displayed plate, blocks significant amount of lower air intake, looks even uglier than stock bracket IMO.

• jacfab - doesn't exist yet, but is reportedly in design. Makes no drill license plate bracket for Camaros. If follows Camaro design, illegal for me due to height, blocks airflow. Advanced Checkers here. Looks substantial and well made.

• holden front bumper - has an area for a license plate, but area is not sized properly for US standard plate. Loveplanet. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. Seems similar to Skene except you saved $50. I like how you bent the plate to angle of bumper or at least it looks that way. I have yet to install my Skene, but i did paint the bracket black to blend in.Skene is the most similar available aftermarket option I looked.

A couple of negatives for the skene for me. The highest position of the plate achievable with the skene does not meet the 12 inch height requirement in my state. Also, the skene leaves the plate angled forward slightly. That might be addressable during install.

I was going to buy the skene, but decided I wanted the plate a touch higher to be legal and not block airflow. It probably took me an hour from start to finish. Took almost as long to document it here! Materials cost was about $20 I'd say, but cost was not a factor in my decision.

Oh, and my install does have the entire plate mount and plate bent to follow the lines of the bumper. I read the relevant sections of our motor vehicle code and didn't find any prohibitions on bending the plate. Cant just throw it on the dash? Or get rubber suction cup things and stick it to the front windshield? That's how we do it in houston.

Not legal here. Can't speak to the legality in other areas. I personally wouldn't want a license plate in my field of view. I'm just sharing my solution for a legal front plate where I live.

I don't want to start any debate on front plate requirements. Hopefully this statement will prevent the guy posting in this thread about how he's never run a front plate for XX years and never had a problem.
